In all the settlements in Dve Mogili Municipality there are raised monuments related to the historical memory of people and perpetuating the heroism of the fighters for liberation and independence. Opalchentsi were Bulgarian voluntary army units, who took part in the Serbo-Turkish War of 1876 and the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878. The people in these units were called opalchenets-pobornik meaning
"volunteer combatant".
