In all the settlements in Dve Mogili Municipality there are raised monuments related to the historical memory of people and perpetuating the heroism of the fighters for liberation and independence. Opalchentsi were Bulgarian voluntary army units, who took part in the Serbo-Turkish War of 1876 and the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878. The people in these units were called opalchenets-pobornik meaning "volunteer combatant".

     Grateful population pays tribute to the Russian soldiers who have died for the liberation of Bulgaria, expressing their attitude to the construction of monuments in honor of heroes. There are such Russian monuments in the villages of Katselovo, Buzovets, Pomen, Chilnov, Shirokovo and Baniska.
